NETEZZA AND CLARAVIEW PARTNER TO OFFER RETAILERS THE ABILITY TO DEPLOY BEST-PRACTICE ANALYTICS
Joint Solution Enables Large and Mid-Sized Retailers to Quickly Access
Retail Analytics;
Partnership Strengthens Netezza’s Dominance in Retail and Consumer Goods
Industry
Boston, Mass. — Netezza User Conference — September 20, 2006 — Netezza, the global data warehouse appliance market leader, today announced that it has partnered with Claraview, Inc., www.claraview.com, a Business Intelligence strategy and technology company, to create a complete retail analytics offering. The joint solution of Netezza’s scalable and flexible data warehouse appliance, the Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) system, and the Claraview Retail Data Warehouse (RDW) will enable large and mid-size retailers to quickly deploy near real-time analytics for the full spectrum of retail operations, including supply chain optimization, corporate performance management and customer retention.
The joint Netezza and Claraview solution leverages Netezza’s industry-leading
high-performance, low-cost data warehouse appliance and Claraview’s innovative
template for advanced analytics. The Claraview RDW gives retailers a complete,
low-cost and easy-to-implement data warehousing solution which can handle data
sizes ranging from hundreds of gigabytes to tens of terabytes, all while reducing
the overall technology investment and time to implementation. This partnership
underscores Netezza’s dominance in the retail industry since creating
its Retail & Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Division in May 2005. Working
with retail customers including Ahold, Amazon.com, Catalina Marketing, Neiman
Marcus, Ryder System, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart and The TJX Companies, Netezza
gives retailers the ability to execute comprehensive market basket, clickstream,
CRM, multi-channel inventory, supply chain, merchandising and sales data analysis
in real-time.
“In an industry that lives and dies on the business intelligence provided
by retail data analytics, the partnership between Netezza and Claraview creates
a beacon for retailers looking for a fast, low-cost and scalable solution to
get near real-time results,” said Andy Winans, vice president, retail
& CPG at Netezza. “Claraview’s innovative analytic template
and ability to integrate with leading BI platforms such as Business Objects,
Cognos and MicroStrategy, and ETL tools such as Ascential, Informatica and Sunopsis,
combines very well with Netezza’s speed, scalability and flexibility,
providing retailers with a solution that allows them to truly analyze terabytes
of data when and where they need to.”
The NPS system is the market-leading data warehouse appliance, built specifically to analyze terabytes of detailed data 10 to 100 times faster than existing data warehouse options, at half the cost. The NPS system stores, filters and processes terabytes of records within a single unit, analyzing only the relevant information for each query. Netezza has placed the CPU power next to the data, allowing the NPS system to speed through processes that would occupy most data warehouse systems for hours, or even days, thereby enabling dramatic increases in productivity across the organization.
“Today, large and mid-size retailers are faced with either deploying a brand-new analytical application or augmenting an existing application with new capabilities to fill analytic gaps,” said Dan Ross, Retail Practice Leader at Claraview. “In either case, these retailers risk ‘reinventing the wheel’ and spending unnecessary time on essentials such as a workable data model, data loading routines and basic report templates. With the joint offering of Netezza and the Claraview Retail Data Warehouse, retailers are able to quickly implement a solution that gives them the insight and the business intelligence they need to make informed and effective decisions about their businesses.”
