Tokyo, Japan — June 27, 2006 —Netezza Japan and partner ISID today announced that MOS Food Services has placed an order for the Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) data warehouse appliance.

The NPS system combines RDBMS software, server, and storage functionality to provide 10 to 50 times faster performance than traditional data warehouse systems.

In October of this year ISID and Netezza Japan announced their partnership to jointly market Netezza’s enterprise class data warehouse appliance to leading corporations across all industries in Japan.

MOS Food Services currently has over 1,400 stores across Japan. Detailed sales data from these stores is gathered an analyzed to determine trends such as top-selling items by store, region, time of day, etc., and the result of this analysis is used by MOS to further improve its product quality and customer service.

By implementing the NPS system, MOS expects the following benefits:

• Faster decision making to improve product planning, store planning, and procurement planning thanks to the ability to generate reports in near-real time.
• The ability to store and freely analyze detailed POS data over several years; something that was not possible on MOS’ existing data warehouse system.
• Improved BI processes to solidify the “PDCA” (Plan, Do, Check, Action) cycle
