NETEZZA LAUNCHES FEDERAL DIVISION
Company Taps Data Warehousing Industry Veteran as General Manager of D.C.-area Office
McLean, Va.—June 14, 2005—Netezza Corporation today launched its Federal Division and announced the opening of an office in McLean, Va. The team will be led by Steve Williams, a data warehousing industry veteran who previously held senior-level positions at MicroStrategy and Clareos.
Netezza’s Federal Division launch follows the significant growth and momentum the Company has realized to date in the data warehousing industry, with over 60 systems sold to nearly 30 enterprise customers worldwide. Williams and his federal team will focus on meeting the increasing data management challenges faced by agencies within the Federal government.
“Government agencies face the same challenge that exists in the private
sector - analyzing fast-growing volumes of mission-critical data quickly to
arm their people with the real-time information they need to make rapid, informed
decisions,” said Jit Saxena, CEO and co-founder of Netezza. “Data-intensive
companies such as Amazon.com, Cingular Wireless and Orange UK are already realizing
the value of the Netezza Performance Server® system. The Netezza Federal
Division is committed to providing a cost-effective data warehouse solution
that delivers the performance, ease of use and seamless integration government
agencies need to meet mounting data management challenges.”
“We look forward to working with agencies and integrators who understand
the performance and time-to-mission limitations of current data warehousing
solutions and who are looking for a better option,” said Steve Williams,
vice president and general manager of Netezza’s Federal Division. “The
NPS® system delivers a level of data warehousing price/performance not previously
available to the Federal government.”
The NPS data warehouse appliance architecturally integrates a relational database, server and storage into a single unit that delivers 10 to 50 times the performance – at half the cost – of traditional data warehouse systems, enabling Federal government agencies to more effectively manage and analyze exploding volumes of data. In turn, this allows agencies to meet performance goals and tight budgetary restrictions for data warehouse projects and initiatives.
“Netezza is a perfect fit for Fairfax County because it joins many other
technology companies whose products and services are state-of-the-art,”
said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., president and CEO of the Fairfax County Economic
Development Authority. “As the company pursues business in the federal
sector, it will find the labor force it needs in Fairfax County and the quality
of life that will keep its employees.
