Market Leaders Turn to Netezza to Gain Real-Time Insights into Growing Data
Framingham, Mass.—September 7, 2004—Netezza Corporation today announced that it has generated dramatic corporate growth and momentum in the data warehousing industry with the success of its Netezza Performance Server® (NPS®) system. The NPS system is now installed at 15 major customers, including AT&T Wireless, Orange UK and The TJX Companies. During the first half of 2004, the Company completed seven large deals with market-leading organizations, including the online-portal CNET Networks, resulting in a sales increase of 230 percent as compared to the first half of 2003, and staff growth of nearly 40 percent.
Since early 2003, Netezza has shipped more than 30 NPS systems to companies worldwide, with the majority of its customers purchasing more than one system. The Company’s largest customer has purchased seven systems for full-scale deployment. Netezza’s success demonstrates the market’s confidence in the Company’s ability to power real-time, tera-scale business intelligence for data-intensive organizations.
“Netezza’s success is a direct result of its ability to provide customers with an innovative solution that addresses a critical market need – simplifying today’s complex data centers,” said Doug Leone, general partner, Sequoia Capital. “Not only does Netezza accelerate the efficiency of any data warehouse environment, but it does so at the lowest total cost of ownership.”
“Netezza’s momentum in the data warehousing industry reflects the market’s demand for a solution that can keep pace with explosive data growth while lowering upfront and ongoing costs,” said Dan Vesset, research manager, Analytics and Data Warehousing, IDC.
The NPS system architecturally integrates servers, storage and a relational database into a single powerful, enterprise-class appliance, created from the outset to process queries faster and enable complex analysis that was not previously possible because of large and fast-growing data sizes. This unprecedented analysis enables companies to harness information located in tens, even hundreds, of terabytes of data in order to lower costs, reduce risk and fraud, strengthen customer relationships and keep pace with ever-changing market trends. The NPS system has been selected and deployed by leading companies in retail, telecommunications, the life sciences and other industries to power their business intelligence efforts. Worldwide customers include AT&T Wireless, CNET Networks, Epsilon, Orange UK, Premier, Inc., Shoppers Drug Mart and The TJX Companies.
“Our dramatic growth demonstrates Netezza’s success penetrating the data warehousing market, while our expanding customer list validates both our system’s architecture, as well as our ability to meet the corporate demand for solving data center challenges,” said Jit Saxena, co-founder and CEO, Netezza Corp.
