New Industry Analyst Study Highlights Customer Successes with the Netezza Performance Server (NPS)
Framingham, Mass.—May 19, 2003—Netezza Corporation today announced the release of a study by IDC, a leading global provider of IT research and advisory. The study, entitled ‘Netezza: A Business Analytics Revolution in the Making,’ addresses the growing need for real-time business intelligence processing and highlights the benefits of utilizing the Netezza Performance Server™ (NPS™) system, a purpose-built, tera-scale data appliance optimized for business intelligence. It also showcases the results of three ongoing customer experiences with the NPS appliance in the telecommunications, marketing services and financial services industries.
“Netezza is likely to have a significant impact on the business analytics market,” said Dan Vesset, IDC research manager, Analytics and Data Warehousing, in his study ‘Netezza: A Business Analytics Revolution in the Making.’ The study, as quoted below, states that the Netezza Performance Server system is impacting the industry in the following ways:
Setting new standards for performance of data warehousing platforms based on
Asymmetric Massively Parallel Processing (AMPP) architecture
Enabling compression of decision cycles, thus providing competitive advantage
to organizations implementing the new platform
Disrupting the competitive landscape by establishing new price/performance benchmarks
made possible by the use of database standards, open source software, and standard
hardware components
“Netezza is delighted that IDC recognizes the place we are staking in
the data warehousing and business intelligence market,” said Jit Saxena,
CEO of Netezza Corp. “Our next-generation approach to addressing the processing
pains of today’s corporations enables customers to conduct much faster
and more complex data analysis.”
The NPS appliance delivers 10 to 20 times the performance for large, complex and constantly growing BI efforts at half the cost of existing systems. The NPS system combines servers, storage and database into a single powerful and scalable appliance created from the
outset to process queries faster—and enable complex data analysis that was not previously possible because of large and fast-growing data sizes. This new architecture shatters traditional performance benchmarks and many of the technical roadblocks that paralyze today’s patchwork of general-purpose offerings that corporations were previously forced to rely on.
